A little clarity

Your privacy

Your home should feel like yours. Here’s what the online yard saves and what you can control.

Updated 10 October 2026 · Open beta · Ages 18+

Your information and why we use it

Edema Ero, based in Nigeria, operates Yardfolk and is responsible for its use of your information. Contact hello@playyardfolk.com for privacy questions or requests.

  • Account: your email, sign-in/session records and 18+ confirmation let us register you, authenticate you and protect access. We do not ask for your birth date or identity document to join the beta.
  • Life in the yard: your username, avatar, introduction, home, furnishings, settings, game progress, scores, optional activities and community participation let us save and run the game.
  • Visits and safety: visit records, reactions, blocks, reports and moderation records support neighbour controls and abuse handling.
  • Purchases: order references, amounts, currency, provider status, Coin ledger and refund/dispute records support delivery and reconciliation. Whop handles card information.
  • Operation: providers may process IP addresses, request/session information and technical logs to serve the app, prevent abuse and diagnose failures.

We use information to provide the service you request, protect the community and payment integrity, and meet applicable obligations. Optional weekly activities remain your choice. We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

What neighbours can see

Your public username, avatar, introduction, home exterior and map address can be visible to visitors, including guests. Scoreboards and community features display the participation described in those screens. Public player and online counts are aggregates.

Your email, purchase history and private visitor history are not shown to neighbours. A signed-in visitor’s visit or reaction can appear in the home owner’s history. Your own home preview is not an incoming visit.

You control interior visits in Home settings. Blocking prevents visits and reactions between the two accounts; public map exteriors remain visible. Do not include private contact details in your public introduction.

Services that help run Yardfolk

Vercel hosts the app; Supabase provides authentication, the database and realtime updates; Resend delivers account and service emails; Whop handles checkout and payment records. Private GitHub Actions stores encrypted database backups. These providers may process information outside Nigeria under their service arrangements.

Necessary session cookies keep you signed in. Device storage remembers preferences such as sound, and the installed app caches its public assets. The separate prototype saves its local game in your browser. Clearing browser data removes those device preferences or prototype saves, not your online account.

Saving, closing and retention

Online account and game data remain while you use the account. Visit history covers the last 90 days. Encrypted daily backup archives are kept for seven days.

Closing your account requires a fresh email code. Access is revoked and your public profile, room, furnishings and personal game progress are removed; sign-in cleanup is retried if the provider is temporarily unavailable. Shared courtyard improvements remain.

Payment, Coin ledger, moderation and necessary shared-community records are not automatically erased on closure. They are retained for payment reconciliation, dispute handling, safety and applicable obligations. Contact us for a review of the records that can be deleted. Backups expire through their retention cycle; a recovery must preserve account-closure requests.

Your choices and requests

You can edit your introduction and home access, block neighbours, change optional activity participation, sign out or close your account in the game. For access to your information, correction, deletion, a copy, an objection or restriction request, email hello@playyardfolk.com. We may verify that you own the account; never send a password or sign-in code.

If your concern is unresolved, you may contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. We will update this page when our practices change.
